Our favorite bear from Britain is back! Paddington in Peru is coming soon, and a fun new trailer has just been dropped.

The preview starts at a bustling Paddington Station. From there, we see Paddington in an automated photo booth, where a robotic voice tries to tell him how to pose. The robotic voice says, “Please note that headwear is not permitted.” At that point, it's revealed that there's a marmalade sandwich on his head.

That's just one of the hilarious moments in the new two-minute-plus trailer that sets the scene for adventure.

“Dear Aunt Lucy, I have very important news. We're coming to visit you!” Paddington is heard saying in a voiceover.

Now we see the Brown Family in Peru, where they're headed to the Home for Retired Bears to see their beloved aunt. Upon arrival, a nun informs Paddington that she's “set off on some sort of quest deep in the jungle.” And they “have no idea where she is.”

So, what's Paddington to do?

“Aunt Lucy found me when I was a cub — now I have to find her,” the bear proclaims.

At this point, they're off to the Amazon. Here, they have some Indiana Jones-type moments, with giant boulders, flying in a hectic airplane, and an epic boat ride.

Paddington in Peru gets London trailer launch

Variety reports that the trailer was launched at a special event in London on Wednesday morning. The event featured, of course, marmalade sandwiches.

Ben Whishaw voices Paddington. The new film introduces some new characters, including Olivia Colman, who plays a guitar-wearing nun, and Antonio Banderas, who plays a boat captain. Hugh Bonneville returns as Mr. Brown. Meanwhile, Emily Mortimer plays Mrs. Brown.

This is the 3rd film in the Paddington franchise that comes seven years after Paddington 2.

“The first film gave us a bit of information about where Paddington came from and how he found his home in London, and in then the second story he almost loses that home but in doing he consolidates his community in London and we also find out a little bit more about Paddington's orgins and how he was rescued,” said Dougal Wilson, the director of the film. “So there's a lot of missing information about what happens before that and we thought for the third film it would be very appropriate for him to return to Peru, but this time taking his London friends and community with him and have an adventure there and, in doing so, fill in some of the missing pieces.”

Paul King directed the first two Paddington movies, which proved successful. Over $500 million was made in the global box office.

Paddington in Peru will be released in the U.S. on Jan 17, 2025, and in the United Kingdom on Nov 8, 2024.
