In a social media post on the official Paddington pages, marmalade, the titular character's favorite food, is wiped off the screen and unveiled the film's logo and release date.

Paddington in Peru be released in theaters on January 17, 2025. That means that the film will be released nearly eight years after the last installment.

The Paddington series has been one of the most well-received franchises in recent memory. The first two films hold a 97% and 99% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes.

Paddington follows the adventures of the titular bear (voiced by Ben Whishaw). It's based on the character created by Michael Bond. StudioCanal produces the films, which have spawned a subsequent TV series and short film that tie into the main films.

Paul King wrote and directed the first film. He would return to direct the second film and co-write the script with Simon Farnaby. King did not return for the upcoming third film. He recently co-wrote (with Farnaby again) and directed Wonka with Timothée Chalamet. However, he did remain attached to the project in some capacity. He receives a story credit for the threequel.

The team of Mark Burton, Jon Foster, and James Lamont co-wrote the script for Paddington in Peru. Dougal Wilson, who has directed music videos for the likes of Coldplay, will make his feature-length directorial debut with the threequel. Ben Whishaw will be joined by Hugh Bonneville, Emily Mortimer, Olivia Colman, and Antonio Banderas in the upcoming film. West Side Story breakout Rachel Zegler was slated to star in the film but will no longer do so due to the SAG-AFTRA strike.

Paddington in Peru will be released on January 17, 2025.
