Why The Rangers Will Cover The Spread/Win

Mika Zibanejad is having an amazing playoff season. He has scored three times with 11 assists so far in the playoffs. He did not have the best first game of the series, with just two shots and a minus-one rating. Still, Zibanejad has two goals and five assists on the power play this playoff year and will look to get his scoring going again in game two. Zibanejad had 26 goals and 46 assists during the regular season. He was also solid on the power play, with 12 goals and 19 assists. Vincent Trocheck is also playing well. Artemi Panarin has been solid in the playoffs. He has four goals and seven assists so far in the playoffs Panarin led the team with 49 goals, 71 assists, and a total of 20 points. Panarin also had a rough first game of the series. He had three shots on goal, but was on the ice for all three Panthers goals, giving him a minus-three rating in the game.   Chris Kreider is also having a good playoff season, with seven goals and three assists. He had just two shots in game one of the series and a minus-two rating. Krieder was third on the team in points this year with 39 goals and 36 assists. Further, Alexis Lafreniere now has four goals and six assists in the playoffs so far.

Igor Shesterkin has been solid this year in the playoffs. He has a .926 save percentage and a 2.37 goals-against average in his 11 games. He played well in game one of the series, allowing two goals on 27 shots in the game. That was good for a .926 save percentage in the game. This is the first time in the playoffs he has been above .890 in save percentage and not gotten the win.

Final Panthers-Rangers Prediction & Pick

The two goals in game one performed as expected, wonderfully. The Rangers did have chances though. They had breakaway opportunities in the first, but could not get the puck to go in, seeing a shot hit the pipe and one being saved. Igor Shesterkin played well enough to get the win, but he was outdone by Sergei Bobrovsky. Expect more of the same in game two of the series. Unless one of the goalies suddenly goes cold, take the under again in this one.
