The series shifts back to Manhattan, with each team having won two games apiece. The Florida Panthers will face the New York Rangers in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Thursday at Madison Square Garden. We're here to share our NHL odds series, make a Panthers-Rangers Game 5 prediction, and pick while showing you how to watch.

The Panthers defeated the Rangers 3-2 in Game 4 to even up the series and make it a Best-of-3 as the series shifts back to New York. Ultimately, it was a thriller to the very end.

Vincent Trocheck started things off by taking a centering pass from Artemi Panarin and firing a one-timer to make it 1-0 Rangers. Later, in the second period, the Panthers answered back when Sam Bennett got his stick on the puck, jabbing it past Igor Shesterkin in a wild scramble near the net to the game. Carter Verhaeghe delivered a beautiful backhanded shot in midair for a powerplay goal to put the Cats in the lead.

But the Rangers were not finished as Alexis Lafreniere tipped in a shot after getting a juicy rebound off an Adam Fox shot for a game-tying goal. Next, Lafreniere had a chance to give the Rangers the lead but pinged a shot off the post, which eventually meant overtime.

Blake Wheeler was called for hooking early in overtime, which means a Panthers' powerplay. Then, Sam Reinhart finished things off quickly when he found a loose puck and blasted it into the net for a powerplay game-winner.

Why The Panthers Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Panthers fired anything and everything at the net. Amazingly, they finished with 40 shots on goal and would have had a lot more had the Rangers not blocked 28 shots. The Cats also did well in the faceoff circle, winning 52 percent of the draws. Likewise, they were excellent on special teams, going 2 for 4 on the powerplay. The Panthers also had 45 hits but also blocked just eight shots.

Matthew Tkachuk has had a great postseason, currently sitting at five goals and 14 assists. Now, he expects to give the Cats the edge and put them in a position to close out the Rangers. Verhaeghe continues to shine, with nine playoff goals and eight assists. Furthermore, his goal in Game 4 helped give the Cats a chance to win.

Aleksander Barkov has six goals and 11 assists. Moreover, his two assists in Game 4 contributed to the tally. Reinhart now has eight goals and four assists in the playoffs. After his game-winner in Game 4, he now has three goals over two games.

The defense did not have to do much in this game. Mainly, the Panthers possessed the puck and never allowed the Rangers to get any strong opportunities. Sergei Bobrovsky is now 10-5 with a 2.29 goals-against average and a save percentage of .904. Therefore, look for him to try and continue playing well.

The Panthers will cover the spread if they continue to draw penalties and convert on the powerplay. Then, they need to continue retaining possession of the puck.

Why The Rangers Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Rangers fired only 23 shots on net. Additionally, they won just 48 percent of the faceoffs. The Rangers also went 1 for 3 on the powerplay. As noted before, they blocked 28 shots on defense.

Trocheck continues to be the hero on offense, with eight playoff goals and 11 assists. After another goal in Game 4, he now has two goals and three assists in the Eastern Conference Finals. But the Rangers need him to continue to be a force in the faceoff circle. He has 172 wins and 126 losses on the draw in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Mika Zibanejad has three goals and 11 assists in the postseason. Unfortunately, he has not scored a point in the Eastern Conference Finals. Zibanejad continues to thrive in the faceoff circle, having won 123 draws and lost 114 in the playoffs. Meanwhile, Artemi Panarin added two assists in Game 4 to bring his Eastern Conference Finals tally to three helpers. Panarin has a total of four goals and 10 assists in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Of course, who can forget Lafreniere? He played a role for the second straight game and now has three tallies in the Eastern Conference Finals. It brings his total to seven goals and six assists in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Conversely. Chris Kreider continues to struggle, having not tallied a point in the Eastern Conference Finals.

The defense did everything possible to prevent the Panthers from scoring on them. Unfortunately, not having possession eventually took a toll. Shesterkin is now 10-4 with a 2.37 goals-against average and a save percentage of .923 in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The Rangers will cover the spread if they can do a better job with possession and avoid taking penalties. Then, they need more assistance from Zibanejad and Kreider.

Final Panthers-Rangers Game 5 Prediction & Pick

After opening the Eastern Conference Finals with a 3-0 victory, the Panthers fell 2-1 in Game 2 at the Garden. Then, they lost 5-4 at home in Game 3 before snagging Game 4. With the exception of the first game, it's been all close games. Yet, the Panthers are the favorites on the road here in Game 5. Expect this game to be just like the previous three games. Yet, the Panthers seem to be better on the road. But the Rangers will be ready to respond after a big letdown in Game 4. This game goes down to the wire, with the Rangers covering the spread.
