As expected, New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick did not go into much detail with his answers to the media's questions about quarterback Tom Brady’s hand injury on Friday, as ESPN’s Mike Reiss reports.

“Yeah, we gave out the injury report yesterday. We'll update it today,” Belichick said in reference to Brady's status.

When asked a couple more questions regarding Brady, Belichick flat-out responded by saying “I don’t know.” And when he did go out and provide a slightly longer answer, like when he was asked about backup Brian Hoyer, he only spewed cliched lines.

“Brian does a great job for us,” Belichick said. “Works hard. Practices hard.”

Brady suffered a right-hand injury during Wednesday’s practice after a collision with a teammate. He was a non-participant on Thursday’s practice as he just went through some jogging and stretching while wearing gloves on both hands, which is unusual for him. Hoyer took all the snaps during practice.

Belichick withholding information from media is obviously not a new phenomenon. He’s been infamously secretive about the goings-on within his team, and he has every right to be. Anyone who thought he’d freely and voluntarily give up vital information regarding his key player in one of the most important games of the season was sorely mistaken.

Whatever is going on within the Patriots will likely stay a secret until the game itself. But as Belichick says, the team will continue to prepare for Jacksonville, and their preparation will be dependent on the status of Brady’s hand. While sources close to Brady believe he “should be OK” by game-time, everyone will just have to wait and see how good he looks.
