In his 10th season in the league, New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton continues to show his capabilities as a dual-threat quarterback. Newton made history in the Patriots' Week 9 game against the New York Jets by scoring two rushing touchdowns for a total of 66 in his career, which ties him for 40th in NFL history, per Michael Smith of ProFootballTalk.

Newton moved ahead of Hall of Fame running back Thurman Thomas, who amassed 65 total career rushing touchdowns. Newton now has more rushing touchdowns than other Hall of Fame running backs including Larry Csonka, Lenny Moore, O.J. Simpson, Terrell Davis, John Henry Johnson, Floyd Little, and Gale Sayers.

The former Auburn standout led New England to a fourth-quarter comeback with a clutch scoring drive to tie the game at 27-all with 1:57 remaining in the final frame. The Patriots eventually disappointed the struggling Jets with a 51-yard field goal by kicker Nick Folk as time expired to earn a 30-27 victory.

Patriots wide receiver Jakobi Meyers balled out and had a breakout game as he tallied 169 receiving yards on 12 touches, while Damiere Byrd added 65 yards on five receptions for the team.

The win improved the Patriots to 3-5, while the loss kept the Jets winless with a 0-9 tally to account for the worst record in the league.

The 2015 NFL MVP will need to carry more of the scoring load and step up for his teammates as they aim to upset the dominant Baltimore Ravens in Week 10 proceedings.
