Joe Judge's time as the New York Giants head coach came to a disastrous end with a pathetic offensive showing in the final few contests, including an embarrassing quarterback sneak play-call in the season's last game. This obviously reflected poorly on Judge, who was let go by the Giants. However, he landed with the New England Patriots- where he previously served as a special teams coordinator- as a member of the team's offensive staff. Not only will Judge work with the Patriots offense but he will also hold a pivotal role with second-year pro Mac Jones, per Giants Wire of USA Today.

As it stands now, Judge is expected to work with the quarterbacks, and (Matt) Patricia with the line, and each will do so without much experience having coached offense before they became head coaches over the last few years (Judge came up working with the special teams, Patricia on defense). Which, obviously, is a dice roll given the critical point that Mac Jones is at.

The Patriots new offensive staff will consist of two head coaches, Joe Judge and Matt Patricia- who notably don't specialize in offense- who didn't have much success in their stints as captains of the ship. As Albert Breer of NFL.com notes, this is certainly a “dice roll” given that Mac Jones is at a critical stage in his development as a signal-caller.

The primary voice in Jones' ear will be none other than ex-Giants coach Joe Judge. His offenses with New York were abysmal, with little development to speak of when it came to QB Daniel Jones.

Perhaps Judge's tough-love approach will light a fire under Jones and the Patriots' offense. It's a big risk but one that could help New England in the long run if it pans out.
