New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. sent shockwaves across the football world on Monday by signing a huge five-year, $90 deal with the team. In reaction to Beckham’s massive payday, New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman hopped on his Instagram account and posted a picture of him with Beckham along with a humorous caption, “Friendship is what makes a man wealthy. Also… contracts. #DinnerOnDell”

Edelman’s contract is quite small compared to Beckham’s. The veteran receiver is playing on a two-year deal worth $11 million with a guaranteed amount of $7 million. Odell Beckham Jr., meanwhile, inked a contract that comes with a $20 million signing bonus and $65 million in guaranteed money.

Having said that, Julian Edelman owns two priceless items that he’s probably not going to trade for Beckham’s salary – a pair of Super Bowl rings won with the Patriots.

One similarity shared by Odell Beckham Jr. and Edelman is that both of them are coming off a difficult 2017 season. Last year, Beckham was limited by an ankle injury to just four games, while Edelman didn’t play at all because of a torn ACL he suffered in the preseason.

Edelman is also going to miss the first four games of the 2018 NFL season while he serves a suspension for his violation of the league’s policy on the use of performance-enhancing drugs.
