Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel will see some familiar faces on Sunday when the New England Patriots come to town. Running back James White is among the notable players he expects to see a lot of.
White is in the midst of his best season yet. According to Zack Cox of NESN, Vrabel is rather impressed with what he has done in the 2018 NFL season:
“It's ridiculous. … I hope by Sunday we have an answer (for him).”
Vrabel's comments may seem like a bit of a stretch. However, the Titans will need to find a way to limit his production if they hope to contain the high-powered Patriots offense. It appears White will be a key emphasis for the defense, and for good reason.
White has undoubtedly been one of the best receiving backs in the league thus far. He has hauled in a career-high 61 receptions for 531 yards and six touchdowns through nine games. He has already set career-highs in rushing as well with 235 yards and four touchdowns on 60 carries. His versatile skill set makes him an integral part of this Patriots offense.
With the return of running back Sony Michel, White will likely see a decrease in carries. However, he will still register plenty of touches in his role on passing downs. This will make it difficult for the Titans defense to keep tabs on him.
Although they have been solid against the run this season, Tennessee has failed to apply consistent pressure on quarterbacks. This is certainly not ideal when going up against the Patriots' offense.
