The New England Patriots have had their fair share of struggles on offense in recent weeks and they'll be a bit shorthanded on Sunday. While he's battled to try and suit up, Mohamed Sanu is not expected to play versus the Dallas Cowboys in Week 12.

Last week, Sanu sustained a high-ankle sprain after being tackled awkwardly against the Philadelphia Eagles. The veteran wide receiver was able to finish the game, but the ankle was definitely bothering him throughout the rest of the contest.

The loss of Sanu hurts especially with the Patriots having a tough time getting into a rhythm on offense over the past month. New England traded a second-round pick to acquire Sanu from the Atlanta Falcons before Week 8.

In his first three games in Foxborough, Sanu combined for 14 receptions, 108 yards, and a touchdown. With him likely being sidelined for Week 12, the team will rely on Julian Edelman and rookie N'Keal Harry more in the passing attack.

Harry made his NFL debut last week and caught three passes for 18 yards from Tom Brady. There's a decent chance the rookie out of Arizona State sees more action on Sunday versus the Cowboys.

Besides Sanu, Phillip Dorsett is also dealing with an injury of his own that he suffered in Week 11. The speedy wideout has caught 26 passes, with five of them resulting in touchdowns.

The game on Sunday could involve some rain, which means that the Patriots will need to run the ball with success. Even with the weather possibly being a factor, New England could be extremely thin at wide receiver on Sunday.
