Paul McCartney celebrated his 82nd birthday on June 18 — celebrities, including Rolling Stones star Ronnie Wood, Billy Joel, and his kids posted their messages to the former Beatle.

Paul McCartney's kids' birthday wishes

Beginning with Stella McCartney, she posted a video of her flipping through old photos taken by her mother, Linda McCartney. “Looking at my Dad, @PaulMcCartney through my Mum's lens today… His day… Happy birthday, Papa Smurf xx,” the caption read.

She wasn't the one of his kids to wish him a happy birthday. His son James McCartney took to X to say, “I will always love you. You are a guiding light that shows me how to move forward. You love me, I love you and that's all that matters.”

Other rock icons

Some of McCartney's peers also wished him well. Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones posted pictures of them together over the years and wished him an “incredible day.” McCartney recently featured on the Rolling Stones' Hackney Diamonds album.

Billy Joel similarly posted a picture of him with McCartney. It is from 2008 during Joel's show at Shea Stadium. He played the final two concerts at the iconic venue in Queens, New York. McCartney joined him for the second show and played two Beatles songs — “I Saw Her Standing There” and “Let It Be.”

Al Jardine of the Beach Boys posted a picture of him holding McCartney's book, The Lyrics. “Love your book!” he said in his post after wishing him a happy birthday. Another Beach Boys member, Brian Wilson, also posted a picture of him with McCartney.

The official account of Aerosmith posted a picture of McCartney with Steven Tyler in Las Vegas in June 2019. “Happy Birthday Sir Paul McCartney!” the caption read.

Pete Best, a member of the Beatles from 1960-62, also wished McCartney a happy birthday before throwing his name in the hat to open for him during his upcoming Manchester shows.

“Happy Belated Birthday,” Best's post began. “Not far behind you. Reach out if you'd like me to open for you in Manchester. Imagine. Now that would be something.”

Paul McCartney just celebrated his 82nd birthday. The rock icon is still going strong over a half-century into his career.

He was a part of the Beatles from 1960-70. In that time, they released hit albums like A Hard Day's Night, Abbey Road, and Let It Be.

After the Beatles broke up, McCartney continued making music. He released his self-titled solo album, McCartney, in 1970. This was around the same time that he formed Wings.

As a part of Wings, McCartney released hit songs such as “Band on the Run,” “Listen to What the Man Said,” and “Silly Love Songs.” Despite them breaking up in 1981, McCartney continued releasing solo material.

Since 2012, McCartney has released four studio albums — Kisses on the Bottom, New, Egypt Station, and McCartney III.

Additionally, McCartney has been a touring machine since Wings broke up. He has embarked on 17 concert tours as a solo artist. His current touring band consisting of Rusty Anderson, Brian Ray, Abe Laboriel Jr., and Paul “Wix” Wickens has been with him since the 2002 “Driving Rain” tour.

Later in 2024, McCartney will resume the “Got Back” tour. He recently announced a South American and European leg of the tour. The “Got Back” tour originally began in April 2022 with shows in North America.
