The New Orleans Pelicans are going to be very shorthanded on Saturday against the Boston Celtics, as Jrue Holiday, JJ Redick and Derrick Favors are all out.
Holiday is out with a left elbow triceps strain, while Redick and Favors are dealing with hamstring issues:
The Pelicans are 14-25 on the season. They are in 14th place in the Western Conference standings.
Holiday has appeared in 34 games this season for the Pelicans. He’s averaging 19.6 points, 4.9 rebounds and 6.5 assists while shooting 43.8 percent from the field, 34.2 percent from beyond the arc and 70.8 percent from the free-throw line.
Holiday's name has come up in trade rumors recently since the Pelicans appear to be on their way to missing the playoffs. New Orleans, publicly and privately, has made it clear they want to keep the 29-year-old guard this season and see what he looks like with No. 1 overall pick Zion Williamson on the court. Williamson has yet to play this season after undergoing knee surgery, though it’s unknown when he will make his regular season NBA debut.
Holiday is making $26.1 million this season. He’s owed $25.4 million next season and has a player option worth $26.3 million for the 2021-22 campaign.
Redick is averaging 15.7 points on the season for the Pelicans, while Favors is putting up 8.7 points and 10.0 rebounds.
