After it was announced by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski on Wednesday that former Phoenix Suns center Greg Monroe had agreed to a contract buyout with the team, it appears that he is on the radar of the New Orleans Pelicans and a handful of other teams.

Wojnarowski thinks that Monroe will draw a large amount of interest from teams around the NBA once he becomes an unrestricted free agent.

According to a tweet on Wednesday night by Keith Smith of RealGM, the Pelicans will try to lure Monroe to them with a starting gig as well as a chance to return to his hometown of New Orleans.

Monroe had been the talk of a contract buyout for a few weeks, but the Suns finally decided to pull the trigger on the move with just about one week left before the trade deadline.

According to a tweet from David Aldridge of TNT, the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers are also supposed to be major players to land Monroe, as both teams need a big man.

“Celtics obvious potential target for Greg Monroe post-buyout,” Aldridge said. “Cavs have been on the hunt for a big man before the trade deadline as well.”

In only 20 games this season with the Suns after he was traded from the Milwaukee Bucks, Monroe is currently averaging 11.3 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per contest in 23.3 minutes of action per game.

Home is where the heart is, so hopefully, Monroe chooses to return to New Orleans to make an immediate impact for his hometown team.
