No sneaker has closer ties to a region or culture than that of the Nike Air Foamposite to the DMV area. Now, sneakerheads from D.C., Maryland, and Virginia will have their own signature colorway of their favorite go-to sneaker. After a string of releases throughout 2024, Nike is ready to once-again bring back Penny Hardaway's Nike Air Foamposite One with a nod to the region that made them so popular. The Nike Air Foamposite One was designed and brought to life by Eric Avar of Nike and made for one of their most electric athletes at the time in Orlando's Penny Hardaway. To this day, the shoes are one of the most unique and innovative sneakers Nike has ever releases and they continue to be a cult-classic among sneakerheads on the streets.

During the early-2010's, the Nike Air Foamposite saw a massive craze around the DMV area with releases like the “Galaxy” Nike Foamposite and hometown rappers like Wale cosigning the sneakers as one of his favorites. It's only right that the DMV gets their own sneaker, paying homage to the iconic foliage in the springtime.

The Nike Air Foamposite One features the iconic synthetic foam upper that molds to the wearer's foot over time. The shoe is based on a translucent rubber outsole and a carbon fiber plate through the mid-foot of the sole. The upper eyestays are done in suede while the sockliner and heel collar are done in black mesh. The shoes feature tiny Nike Swooshes along the front toe along with Hardaway's 1/2 cent logo on the heel.

Getting into some of the finer details, we see the stunning Pink Rise/Platinum Violet colorway throughout the Foamposite material. The color is a directly inspired by the cherry blossom trees around the DMV region, blooming to their beautiful pink and white shades during the springtime. The same cherry blossoms are featured in artwork on the shoes' insoles and the final touch is the “DMV” inscription along the heel pull tab. We've seen pink Foamposites release in the past, but these may be the cleanest pair we've seen in recent memory.

The Nike Air Foamposite One “DMV” has yet to see an official release date, but rumors are swirling of a possible Summer 2024 drop for this pair. Given the colorway, we should expect these to come in full family sizing and available to a wider audience. They'll come with a standard price tag of $240 and will drop on Nike SNKRS and select Nike retailers.
