Persona 3 Reload is almost here, and whether you played any of the previous games in the Persona series or not, this guide to everything new in Tartarus is guaranteed to be useful. For those familiar with the old Tartarus in Persona 3, you have a lot to brush up on for this new iteration of the labyrinth.
Persona 3 Reload – Tartarus
As with the modern Persona games, Tartarus has hordes of Shadows that will attack the protagonist and the rest of the SEES on sight. For Persona 3 Reload, Tartarus will receive enhanced visuals and new features that will modernize the player experience.
Finally, Running
SEES has finally learned how to run inside Tartarus. Cross lengthy hallways, run to (or away from!) enemy Shadows, and reach the next floor much quicker with the run button, which is RT/R2 by default.
Auto Recovery
Persona 3 Reload takes from Persona 5 with an Auto Recovery button, instantly restoring the HP of the party using healing abilities or items.
Breakable Objects
In the labyrinthine halls of Tartarus, players will find breakable objects hiding Shadow remnants. Smashing these can yield a variety of rewards, from recovery items that aid in your journey to loot that can be sold for profit. Among the spoils, players might also discover Shards of Dusk, crucial for unlocking…
Treasure Chests!
Treasure chests can be found hidden throughout Tartarus. Some of them will be locked, so make sure you stock up on Shards of Dusk to open them! These locked treasure chests will often contain better items compared to their regular, no-Shards of Dusk-required counterparts.
Send Someone to Recon!
Sometimes, after a battle, you will have the choice to send a party member on a reconnaissance mission. While this means the party member will be temporarily leaving your party to scout the path to the next floor, they will rejoin the group on the next level bringing items they've collected during their exploration.
Rescue Lost People!
You might encounter lost people during your exploration of Tartarus. Rescuing them may mean rewards for your efforts somewhere down the line.
Shuffle Time Returns!
Winning a battle gives a chance for Shuffle Time to occur. During Shuffle Time, you can choose one of several cards, granting you various effects or even new Personas. There are rare occasions where Major Arcana cards will appear.
Choosing Major Arcana cards grants unique effects like increasing the amount of XP gained or boosting All-Out Attack damage. These unique effects will last for the remainder of the day.
Arcana Burst
Exceeding the limit of Major Arcana cards will cause an Arcana Burst. During an Arcana Burst, all the Minor Arcana cards get enhanced effects.
Monad's Door
Sometimes, Monad's Door will appear inside Tartarus. Entering this massive gate will reward treasure chests, but they're guarded by strong Shadows. Defeating these formidable foes will trigger a Shuffle Time with a guaranteed Major Arcana.
Monad's Path
Monad's Path is a type of Monad's Door and takes the form of a long corridor teeming with Shadows. Getting through Monad's Path will reward you with powerful weapons, character outfits, and unique, valuable items.
Rare Shadows
Golden Rare Shadows will appear occasionally within Tartarus. Be quick, as unlike regular Shadows, these Golden Rare Shadows will run away from you when they are discovered. They give a lot of experience and money, so try your hardest to defeat them!
Giant Rare Shadows appear on even rarer occasions and will grant a plethora of items on top of regular Golden Rare Shadow rewards when they are defeated.
The Reaper
Beware the Reaper, who will hunt you if you stay on a floor too long.
Magical Full Healing Clock
You can find a clock at the Tartarus entrance which will restore the HP and SP of all party members. This will cost you seven Shards of Dusk, however, so be strategic about when you use it.
Persona 3 Reload – Tartarus Outfits
You can change your party members' outfits while exploring Tartarus. This is done on the menu at any time, and the choices are vast!
Fuuka Support Skills
Fuuka can provide intel during battle and exploration. Select Navigation when outside of battle to make use of her support skills.
Some of her skills were outlined:
- Jamming: Be undetectable by enemies on the current floor
- Shock Noise: Temporarily causes Distress to enemies on the floor.
- Sylphid Aura: Enhances the entire party's stats at the start of a battle
Using Fuuka's support skills will cost SP.
Persona 3 Reload releases February 2, 2024 on Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Steam.
