Detroit Pistons guard Cade Cunningham got off to a slow start to his rookie year, but after he got a hang of NBA basketball, he has been unstoppable. In fact, he has been setting NBA and team records here and there.

On Friday against the Boston Celtics, he matched another Pistons record only done by NBA legend Isiah Thomas before. While Detroit lost 114-103, Cunningham finished with 27 points on top of eight rebounds and six assists. That stat line allowed him to join Thomas as the only players in team history to have 10 or more 25-point games in a season while being 20 years old or under.

Cunningham, who is only 20 years old, leads all 2021-22 rookies for the most 25-point games with then. And with the way he's playing, it's very much possible for him to add more to that tally.

Cade Cunningham has undoubtedly been impressive, strengthening his case to win the Rookie of the Year award. As it stands today, Cleveland Cavaliers rising star Evan Mobley leads the race, but it's not hard to see the Pistons youngster overtaking him.

If Cade keeps breaking records and showing his potential while keeping the Pistons competitive, they we could have an interesting ROY voting.

The Texas native also recently became became just the fourth rookie in Pistons history to record a five-game 20-point streak. He joins Grant Hill, David Bing and Kelly Tripucka as the only Detroit players on the exclusive list.
