An NBA executive believes Detroit Pistons All-Star center Andre Drummond “won’t have a lot of options” in free agency.

Drummond will make $27.1 million this season. The Pistons big man has a player option worth $28.8 million for the 2020-21 campaign.

All indications are Drummond will decline that player option and look for a payday from either Detroit or another team, but he might be disappointed with what his market looks like.

“He just won’t have a lot of options,” one front-office executive told Sean Deveney of Heavy.com. “Detroit won’t have a lot of options, either. There won’t be a lot of free-agent money and most of the teams that have it are rebuilding teams who might not want a big like him anyway. He’s kind of old-school and you have to be willing to make your roster around that. Detroit, that’s what they’re willing to do. He probably won’t get a better situation than what he has.”

Last season, Drummond averaged 17.3 points and 15.6 rebounds per game for the Pistons while shooting 53.3 percent from the field. He recorded 69 double-doubles and helped Detroit make the playoffs for the first time since 2016.

Drummond has career averages of 14.1 points and 13.7 rebounds in 542 games with the Pistons.
