Detroit Pistons point guard Reggie Jackson remains questionable for the team’s third preseason game against the Indiana Pacers on Monday due to a groin problem, Vincent Ellis of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Jackson, who was plagued by a left knee injury last season, has not yet seen time this preseason after he missed the Pistons’ first two games against the Charlotte Hornets and the Atlanta Hawks. However, he practiced on Sunday and didn’t seem to be noticeably limited by the injury.

The Pistons are likely being overly cautious with the health of Jackson, who missed 30 games last season and averaged just 14.5 points on 42 percent shooting as he was hampered by left knee tendinitis.

Backup Ish Smith should once again take over as the Pistons’ starting point guard against the Pacers if Jackson does sit out. Smith got the start in their first two preseason games and is averaging 12.5 points and 7.5 assists in 29 minutes per game.

Jackson will have two more chances to play in the preseason after the Indiana game. The Pistons’ final preseason assignments will see them play at Toronto on Tuesday and at Milwaukee on Friday. They begin the regular season at home on October 18 against the Charlotte Hornets.
