Two-time league MVP Steve Nash says he modeled his basketball game after Detroit Pistons legend Isiah Thomas.

Zeke has been in the news lately since Michael Jordan's The Last Dance docuseries has shed light on just how fierce the rivalry was between Thomas' Pistons and Jordan's Bulls back in the day.

On the latest episode of All The Smoke with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson, Nash opened up about Thomas and why the Pistons icon was his “hero” growing up:

“My hero growing up was Isiah Thomas, as far as who I wanted to emulate,” Steve Nash said.

“He had everything but he wasn’t jumping over people, so I was like, ‘Okay, there’s somebody that I can try to emulate.’ He was quick but other than that, he used his skill level, his creativity, his competitive nature. The fight in him was incredible.”

Jordan still hates Thomas to this day. However, His Airness did say the Pistons great is arguably the second-best point guard in NBA history behind Magic Johnson.

Thomas won two titles with the Pistons and was the 1990 Finals MVP. He finished his Pistons career with averages of 19.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 9.3 assists. The Chicago native made the All-Star team 12 times and was inducted into the Hall of Fame back in 2000.

Nash was named a Hall of Famer in 2018. The eight-time All-Star played for the Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers, compiling averages of 14.3 points and 8.5 assists.
