For much of the last several months, there's been a constant chatter about the Detroit Pistons possibly moving veteran guard Reggie Jackson.

According to Michael A. Scotto of Basketball Insiders, the Pistons have discussed the parameters of a deal that would send Jackson to the New Orleans Pelicans.

There have been numerous reports that Detroit is gauging the league-wide interest in Jackson. However, this is the closest that the team has been to dealing away the 27-year-old since prior to the trade deadline in February last season.

Jackson is coming off a campaign where he experienced a drop in production, averaging 14.5 points per game on 41.9 percent shooting from the field, which was the lowest shooting mark since his rookie year. He is also currently locked into a long-term deal as he’s heading into the third season of his five-year, $80 million contract.

The Pelicans would be an interesting fit given that they just re-signed point guard Jrue Holiday to a five-year max contract worth $126 million. Jackson would likely play the off-guard position alongside Holiday as All-Star big men Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins will head the frontcourt.

The addition of Jackson would provide New Orleans a stronger case to convince Cousins to re-sign with the team next offseason, where he can become an unrestricted free agent.

The Pistons would acquire much-needed depth off the bench with E'Twaun Moore and Alexis Ajinca while also garnering a larger veteran presence on the roster.
