Oakland Raiders wide receiver Brandon LaFell left Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals in an unfortunate manner.

This is incredibly disheartening news for a team that was already drastically short at the wide receiver position (and every other position for that matter). Brandon LaFell was brought in on September 3rd after initially releasing Martavis Bryant.

After the Raiders traded former 1st rounder Amari Cooper to the Dallas Cowboys, the offense got extremely one-dimensional, and even their run game suffered from the lack of diversity and talent. Unfortunately for LaFell, his age is an issue, and since he has bounced around so many different teams, it's an uphill battle for him to find a place to keep a job.

The game is speeding up more and more for receivers, and it's not a stretch to assume LaFell may be past the point of a solid return. The significance of this type of injury is a serious matter for an aging receiver. Needless to say at this point in the season, the Raiders need help.

The Raiders are 2-7 after defeating the Cardinals on Sunday, but things are not exactly looking up for them going forward. They face the Kansas City Chiefs twice, the Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, and the Denver Broncos, all opponents who will no doubt be favored over the Raiders.

The Raiders will likely need to begin searching very soon for a wide receiver to help them compete at this point in the season. It is unlikely Jon Gruden will roll over and let this season finish out any worse than it already is if he can help out.
