Rich Bisaccia stepped into an extraordinarily messy situation with the Las Vegas Raiders when he became the team's interim head coach. He took a team with a head coach and young offensive playmaker who left abruptly in disgrace to the playoffs, pulling something off that no one in the NFL has done in 50 years.

The Raiders still opted not to bring Bisaccia back as the head coach. Instead, they hired Josh McDaniels as a package deal with their new general manager, Dave Ziegler. Las Vegas was also rumored to be looking at the University of Michigan's Jim Harbaugh. Ultimately, McDaniels will get the chance to work with the potential that Bisaccia unlocked.

If the Raiders' players had their way, Bisaccia likely would have been retained. Team captains Maxx Crosby and Derek Carr both poured their hearts out for Bisaccia after the franchise hired McDaniels. Las Vegas' stars praised him for his leadership and the connection he made with the team.

Carr and Crosby have beaten the drum about wanting Bisaccia back all offseason. The team's ability to overcome a 6-7 record and clinch a playoff berth and snap a four-year playoff berth is mostly due to their ability to overcome the unbelievable adversity they faced early in the season.

With McDaniels, the Raiders could have a revamped offense with Carr, Josh Jacobs, Darren Waller and Hunter Renfrow leading the way. Bisaccia, meanwhile, has received interest from the Chicago Bears to be their special teams coordinator under new head coach Matt Eberflus.
