It did not take long for DeSean Jackson to find a new team following his departure from the Los Angeles Rams, as he agreed to sign with the Las Vegas Raiders earlier this week.

Jackson opted to sign on with the Rams in the offseason. But after a half-season run with the team where he featured in a mere 27 percent of snaps on offense, he came to terms with Rams team officials on his release following last week's NFL trade deadline.

There were multiple teams that were linked with possibly signing Jackson over the past week. But in the end, he opted to join Las Vegas due to several notable reasons, which he opened up about during a press conference on Wednesday.

“After I got released, I kind of was really just reflecting, sitting back, didn't really rush to make any decisions,” Jackson said.

“Once I finally cleared waivers, my agent had a few teams that was very interested. For me, I was interested in a playoff contender. I wanted to go somewhere to a winning culture and had a chance to make the playoffs, kind of narrow down to a few teams. Just being an LA guy, close to home, the weather, all that good stuff, I just felt like the Raiders match perfect.”

Jackson is not necessarily joining the Raiders with the expectation that he will be a focal point of the team's game planning on offense. Instead, he is merely looking to do what he can to help bolster Las Vegas' offensive attack.

“It's really not about myself at this point,” Jackson said.

“I'm not asking to get the ball 100 times. I'm not asking to play 100 percent. Whatever that role is that fits, just let me play it to the best of my ability.”

Jackson featured in practice with the Raiders on Wednesday, which surely bodes well for his chances to play against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 10.

The Raiders currently sit at second place in the AFC West standings with a 5-3 record.
