Oakland Raiders head coach Jon Gruden fired the team’s strength and conditioning coach Tom Shaw, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Per Schefter, Shaw, who was brought in by Gruden shortly after his hiring, was informed of his dismissal this week.

Gruden’s decision to let go of Shaw comes quickly on the heels of the Raiders firing general manager Reggie McKenzie.

Prior to his arrival in Oakland last offseason, Shaw had been training athletes at Tom Shaw Performance at ESPN's Wide World of Sports in Orlando.

Shaw had also previously worked with the New England Patriots and New Orleans Saints on speed and conditioning.

Schefter adds that this is now the fifth strength coach Gruden has fired during his time as an NFL head coach.

It remains to be seen what the reason was for Gruden’s decision to part ways with Shaw after just one season. Whatever it was, it just underscores what a tumultuous time it has been since Gruden returned to Oakland.

Aside from making several major roster changes, namely the trades of Khalil Mack and Amari Cooper, Gruden has also firmly established his power in the front office, which led to McKenzie’s exit.

Gruden has also not impressed too much on the sidelines, with the Raiders going just 3-11, which is tied for the worst record in the league.

After the disappointment of this season, perhaps this change of Shaw’s firing is the first of many others that Gruden will make with his coaching staff in the coming months.
