The Las Vegas Raiders have learned from their past mistakes when it comes to keeping players who run into legal issues.

Head coach Antonio Pierce announced on Monday that the team has released safety Roderic Teamer, who was arrested and charged with a DUI on Saturday night. He was inactive for Week 12 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

“Raiders interim coach Antonio Pierce confirms that Roderic Teamer, who was arrested on Saturday on DUI charges, has been released by the club.”

Teamer only suited up for six contests in 2023 and last played on October 15th. It's not a huge loss for the Raiders, but it sheds light on their issues in recent years. Henry Ruggs and Damon Arnette both faced serious legal problems and Ruggs pleaded guilty in August to killing a woman and her dog while driving under the influence.

Las Vegas signed Teamer back in 2021 after he spent two seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers and Indianapolis Colts prior. He was undrafted out of Tulane in 2019. Teamer was also suspended in 2020 for four games after violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.

In another surprising move, the Raiders let go of three-time Pro Bowl CB Marcus Peters, who has been declining. He signed a one-year deal with the organization in the offseason.

Las Vegas has lost two in a row but their energy under Pierce is absolutely night and day from when Josh McDaniels was in charge. At 5-7, they face the Minnesota Vikings in Week 13 next Sunday at home.
