The Las Vegas Raiders are starting a new era this season with Jimmy Garoppolo under center. The former New England Patriots and San Francisco 49ers quarterback is building chemistry with his new teammates as the 2023 regular season approaches and he is amazed by All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams.

“Tae’s been incredible,” Garoppolo said, via Scott Thompson. “I’ve never seen something like that on the field before. His athleticism, his knowledge of the game, how he talked about it, it’s really cool. Each day we’ve grown and grown. It’s a relationship that I’m really enjoying.”

Garoppolo has thrown to some notable pass-catchers in his NFL career but Adams may be the best of the bunch.

Entering his second season with the Raiders, Adams is coming off his third consecutive year of being named a first-team All-Pro. No pass-catcher has scored more touchdowns or caught more passes than Adams since 2020. Only Justin Jefferson has more receiving yards in that span.

A dip in production is likely not something on Adams' radar this season, so the pressure is on Garoppolo to deliver. The Raiders' expectations are not high for 2023, but having arguably the best wide receiver-running back combo in the league doesn’t help Vegas if their struggles from a six-win 2022 continue into this year.

Jimmy Garoppolo has been through the wringer so far in his NFL career. Several season-ending injuries mixed with 57 starts and two Super Bowl rings as a backup have led him to this season with the Raiders. Las Vegas is likely the last team that will give Garoppolo a chance to start. Davante Adams can make him look a lot better than he actually is.
