In a punishing conference and division, the Las Vegas Raiders do not have the luxury of being content going into training camp. There is bound to be uncertainty on offense, particularly regarding the long-term health of quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, but everyone knows the team's biggest vice is its leaky secondary.

Raiders general manager Davie Ziegler is doing what he can to ensure that they are not again one of the five worst passing defenses in the league this season. Vegas has had eyes on former All-Pro cornerback Marcus Peters throughout the offseason and is bringing him in for a second visit Monday. He is not alone, though.

Veteran CB Troy Hill, whose crowning achievement was leading the NFL in defensive touchdowns in 2020 with the Los Angeles Rams, will be joining Peters for a workout, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. While it remains to be seen if either is a viable solution for the team's defensive woes, the organization is increasing its odds of having a respectable unit come opening kick-off.

Peters feels like a safe bet to wind up on Las Vegas' training camp roster given the amount of interest he has garnered from the front office of late. The Raiders might just need one more showcase to be convinced that the 30-year-old still has plenty left in the tank. His production waned with the Baltimore Ravens last season, but he is now another offseason removed from a 2021 torn ACL. It is perfectly plausible to think a resurgence could be on the horizon.

Hill is more of a wild card. The former undrafted corner out of Oregon showed signs of continued decline in his second stint with the Rams last year, allowing a 102.4 passing rating across 12 games. The 31-year-old is unlikely to be saddled with a big role, though, and could still add value depending on where he lands.

Raiders fans will be on high alert Monday to see if this workout bears favorable results.
