The Oakland Raiders are going through some drastic changes with Jon Gruden now at the helm for his second stint as head coach in the Bay Area. Gruden has already made some moves to signal the culture change in Oakland with David Amerson being the latest player to be released.

Along with Amerson, Gruden may be releasing a number of other starters. One of the big-name players in Oakland that might be sent packing is wide receiver Michael Crabtree, according to ESPN's Paul Gutierrez.

Hear me out, because this is not necessarily advocating for Crabtree to move on from Oakland. It's just that things need to change for the receiver to excel under Jon Gruden. Crabtree, who started having bad drops, was forgotten at the end of last season as he was targeted only five times in Oakland's last two games and had two catches for 18 yards. This after being targeted a combined 30 times in Weeks 14 and 15. “If I react, then I'm a bad guy, you know what I'm saying,” Crabtree, who signed a four-year extension for $34 million in December 2015, said after this year's season finale. He's due base salaries of $7 million in 2018 and $7.5 million in 2019, though there would be no dead money on Oakland's books should the Raiders cut him. Yes, a change of scenery is needed for Crabtree. But Gruden taking over might be enough.

With Crabtree potentially on his way out of Oakland, the Raiders will have a few options to explore to replace him. Gruden and company could take a look at a few pending free agents like Terrelle Pryor, Jarvis Landry, Allen Robinson, Marqise Lee, Eric Decker, Sammy Watkins, and Mike Wallace to fill the void left by the veteran wideout.

At this point, Crabtree's future with the team still remains up in the air. There's a chance he could stay in Oakland for at least another season, but if Gruden continues with the sweeping changes, his days may be numbered as Gutierrez suggests.
