Since Week 3, the Los Angeles Ram have been without the services of Pro Bowl cornerback Aqib Talib due to ankle surgery.

However, it appears that Talib is aiming to make his return for Week 13 action against the Detroit Lions, according to Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.

This would put him in line to be back after the Week 12 bye following the matchup on Monday night against the Kansas City Chiefs in Mexico City. It is a timeline that falls in line with him being able to return from the injured reserve that has an eight-week designation.

Talib's absence from the secondary has been notably felt since he has been sidelined. This has seen Pro Bowl cornerback Marcus Peters struggling to find any consistency over the last several weeks. In fact, the Peters has been targeted by opposing teams in the last several games that have seen him give up a league-worst seven touchdowns in coverage. These issues defense came to a head against the New Orleans Saints with star wide receiver Michael Thomas hauling in 12 catches on 15 attempts for a career-high 211 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Thomas' touchdown came on a 72-yard touchdown reception late in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game on Peters that had put the game out of reach for the Rams. Los Angeles has been in the bottom tier of the league ranking 22nd against the pass while being 25th with 7.8 yards per attempt, 19th with 16 receiving touchdowns, and 25th with an opposing 96.8 quarterback passer rating.

Talib has been one of the cornerbacks in the league over the last several seasons that has seen him earn five Pro Bowl selections, a First-Team All-Pro nod, and a Second-Team All-Pro selection. His presence would alleviate much of the pressure on Peters as he would step in to take over the assignment of covering the opposing team's best wide receiver.
