Los Angeles Rams running back Cam Akers will remain out for the rest of the game following a rib injury against the Philadelphia Eagles. Akers was injured on the Rams opening drive of the game, leaving shortly afterwards.

The rookie had 13 rushing yards on three carries in the game prior to the injury. With him sidelined, the remainder of the Rams rushing game will be tasked upon Malcolm Brown and Darrell Henderson Jr.to make up the bulk of Akers' absence.

Akers was starting for his second game of the season after rushing for 39 yards on 14 carries last Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys. He adds to the already-long list of injuries that've accumulated around the league in Week 2 thus far as he joins Saquon Barkley, Drew Lock, and David Montgomery to name a few.

Akers had won the starting role for the Rams in training camp after being drafted in the second round from Florida State University and showing he could integrate himself into head coach Sean McVay's system.

The Rams are still enjoying a successful offensive game heading into halftime. Jared Goff has completed 13-of-14 passes for 158 yards with two touchdowns. His completion percentage is the highest in any half of his career at 92.9 percent. Malcolm Brown has stepped up in Akers' absence as well with 31 yards in six carries.

The Rams are up 21-16 at the half and looking to improve to 2-0.
