The Los Angeles Rams are quickly becoming a prime destination that NFL players choose to play football for. Clay Matthews and Eric Weddle are two Pro Bowl-caliber players that have chosen to suit up for the Rams.

If you aren't a Rams fan, it's easy to think that the Rams offered big money and marketed the glitz of sunny California to pull the two away from their respective teams.

However, a RamsWire piece revealed that the two came to the Rams for football reasons. He shared that the Ravens actually offered more money and the Packers weren't interested in matching the Rams' reduced offer for him.

“Really, if I had a list of 100 things as far as why I would sign out here, everything was a check — except for my ego from taking a pay cut, you know?” Matthews said. “Whereas like any other team we talked to, perhaps it wasn’t best for the kids or it was hard for my family to travel or there was some other issue.”

Football isn't the only reason Matthews chose to play for the Rams. He was born and raised in Southern California, played college ball at USC, and will be joining a stacked team that is trying to win a Super Bowl.

Sean McVay is also more than happy to add a talented linebacker to his team. In the 143 games he played since 2009, Matthews has recorded six interceptions, forced one fumble, made 366 solo tackles, and 189 quarterback hits. He made the Pro Bowl six times and got First-Team All-Pro once.

The Rams are already a stacked team that has an incredible 13-3 record in the NFC West. Matthews' addition will only make the Rams a more terrifying opponent to opposing offenses.

It is still interesting to know that the Ravens really wanted Matthews this offseason in free agency.
