For the first time since being traded to the Los Angeles Rams, cornerback Jalen Ramsey will face off against his former team in the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 13.

Ramsey spent four seasons with the Jaguars before the front office shipped him to the Rams in exchange for a pair of first-round picks and a fourth-round pick. He had requested a trade during the 2019 season. Ahead of his departure from the Jaguars, he noted he had “issues” with the front office. These notable comments came after the team opted to not push to sign him to a multiyear contract extension deal during the offseason.

Nonetheless, Ramsey views this upcoming Week 13 matchup against his former team the same as he would for any other game, which he touched on during a press conference on Thursday.

“It was part of my journey,” Ramsey said. “You know what I mean? I’m grateful for my time there, but I’m here now. I’m happy to be here. So, it is what it is. This ain’t really like about me playing Jacksonville. It’s another game, right?

“I don’t even really much know people there no more. Like I only know probably like five people on the team and I don’t even really be talking to them like that… It’s another game. I treat every game the same. It don’t mean more to me. It don’t mean less to me. It is what it is. I’m grateful for my time there.”

The veteran cornerback may be set for a coverage duel with either Marvin Jones or Laviska Shenault Jr. this week. Ramsey may have the edge in either potential clash due to his sheer physicality and his mere 71.4 passer rating allowed while in coverage as the nearest defender.

The rest of Ramsey’s Rams teammates sure are also treating this upcoming contest as they would for any other one — especially after the team has dropped three games in a row. The Rams currently hold the No. 5 seed in the NFC playoff picture.
