The Los Angeles Rams defense is set up to be one of the best in the league for quite some time, thanks to Jalen Ramsey in the secondary, and Aaron Donald on the defensive line. However, Ramsey praises Donald for his leadership and deems the three-time Defensive Player of the year as the best player in the league.

During his interview with the Hustle and Flow podcast, Ramsey goes into detail explaining Aaron Donald's presence on defense.

“His impact on the game is crazy. You look at most valuable player, and what it actually means is how valuable is this guy to this team. Take this guy off of the Rams and then where does their value as a team go? And you put AD on any NFL team, and I guarantee you that D-line is as top five D-line — probably top three D-line — automatically.”

It's no question Aaron Donald is one of the best defensive players in the NFL. With 45 total tackles, 13.5 sacks, and four forced fumbles in 2020 for the Rams, Donald secured his third Defensive Player of the Year award.

With that said, Jalen Ramsey is not wrong in naming Donald the best player in the NFL. There's definitely an argument that could be made for Patrick Mahomes on the offensive side of the ball. However, Donald's mere presence alone makes for a mismatch for every opponent he faces. For him, he doesn't necessarily have to rely on his teammates around him to make an impact. He's such a force, that he can blow up the offensive line and pressure the quarterback by himself on nearly every play.

The Los Angeles Rams are in a great spot to make some noise next season. With a solid defense and higher hopes for the offense, this franchise has the potential to make a deep playoff run next year.
