The Los Angeles Rams will decide by Friday whether or not they want to match the offer the Detroit Lions have made to running back Malcolm Brown, according to Andrew Siciliano of NFL Network.

The Lions offered Brown a two-year, $3.25 million contract.

Brown is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he played 12 games and rushed for 212 yards on 43 carries while catching five passes for 52 yards and a touchdown.

The 25-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Texas, went undrafted but signed with the Rams in May 2015.

He went on to appear in just one game that ensuing season, carrying the ball four times for 17 yards. Then, the following year, Brown participated in all 16 games but had a very limited role, finishing with 39 yards off of 18 attempts.

Brown then proceeded to play in 11 contests in 2017, totaling 246 yards and a touchdown while averaging 3.9 yards per carry.

The Rams won 12 games this past season and captured the NFC West division title, marking the franchise's first playoff appearance since 2004 and ending what had represented the longest postseason drought in the NFC.

After a first-round bye, Los Angeles went on to defeat the Dallas Cowboys in the Divisional Round and then topped the New Orleans Saints in a very controversial NFC Championship Game the following week, winning 26-23 in overtime.

Los Angeles then moved on to the Super Bowl, where it ultimately fell to the New England Patriots by a score of 13-3.

The Lions, meanwhile, won just six games in 2018 and have missed the playoffs two years in a row.
