The NFL Draft Combine is a pivotal moment for most teams in the league. It's an opportunity for them to get an in-depth look at the players, as they go through a rigorous set of physical drills. However, the Los Angeles Rams seemingly have other plans for this year's draft combine.

According to Jourdan Rodrigue, the Rams have informed the NFL that general manager Les Snead and head coach Sean McVay will be skipping this year's draft combine. Instead, the team will be going over the game tape and measurements on their own.

The rationale for the NFL draft combine is for most teams to get up close and personal with these draft picks. Seeing is believing, and seeing how a prospect fares in real-time drills without any cuts is usually helpful. However, the Rams have been successful in this “virtual” style of analysis for a few years now.

The news of the Rams skipping the combine will get a few chuckles out of fans, though. Snead, the general manager, infamously announced that he didn't care for picks (albeit in a more… emphatic manner) during their Super Bowl parade. LA also traded multiple draft picks in their quest to acquire Matthew Stafford and Von Miller: two names that came up clutch in their championship run.

However, that's not to say that the Rams don't have any draft picks to work with in 2022. Prior to draft compensation calculation, they are expected to have eight picks in this year's selection. As we've seen over the years, the best players don't always show up in the first or even second-round. Hell, their MVP, Cooper Kupp, was a third-round selection of theirs!

The Rams are being smart about how they use their picks, despite their devil-may-care attitude in public.
