The Athletic wasn't too kind to Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff in its latest NFL quarterback rankings. However, The Athletic might have been on the money by not putting Goff higher on the publication's list. The Rams' signal caller landed in the second tier as the No. 12 quarterback in the league.

“His coach was feeding him a lot of stuff from the sideline, which probably hurt them down the stretch,” one NFL head coach recently said, via The Athletic. “He would be a 2.5 guy for me. Against 90 percent of the teams in the league, he is probably a 2 or a 1, but against the tougher teams, where he has to rely on his ability to read, he is not quite there. Tight man coverage is tough, the blitz game can be tough, but he does a lot of things well.”

Even if Goff is a product of his environment, the up-and-coming signal caller did help his team win an NFC Championship and reach the Super Bowl last season. In addition to Goff, though, Rams head coach Sean McVay also has wideouts Brandin Cooks and Robert Woods, running back Todd Gurley, and slot receiver Cooper Kupp, among others. It will be interesting to see how the Rams — and Goff — respond next season as the team comes off a trip to the Super Bowl.
