Los Angeles Rams running back Malcolm Brown could potentially face surgery due to a clavicle injury.

Brown left early in Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions after injuring his shoulder, and it appears that the injury could cost him his season.

Head coach Sean McVay commented on Brown's status while meeting with the media on Monday.

From Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times:

Rams RB and special teams standout Malcolm Brown could undergo surgical procedure for clavicle issue, McVay said. McVay described it as a “huge loss” if Brown is out for a lengthy period. Justin Davis and John Kelly could combine to fill Brown's role.

Brown has 43 carries for 212 yards this season while serving as the main backup for star running back Todd Gurley.

With the Rams already locking up the NFC West title, there could be a situation down the stretch (depending on the home-field advantage race) that would see Brown see a much larger workload if Gurley were to be rested ahead of the playoffs.

However, with Brown's injury, that could certainly change how McVay and company approach things the rest of the way.

The Rams are 11-1 and have seemingly gotten back on track after the 45-35 loss in New Orleans back in Week 9. Los Angeles has scored at least 30 points in each of the past three games and has hit that mark in 10 of its 12 games this season.

But racking up that many points could be difficult in the team's Week 14 matchup against the Chicago Bears.
