Prior to the trade deadline on Tuesday afternoon, the Los Angeles Rams added another piece to the puzzle on their defensive line with the acquisition of Jacksonville Jaguars outside linebacker Dante Fowler Jr.

This move has All-Pro running back Todd Gurley voicing his excitement about the addition of the 24-year-old to their defensive front.

The Rams have been off to a blazing start to begin the season having won their first eight games that have put them on the fast track to reach the playoffs and possibly go much deeper than that. However, there has been a notable lack of a pass-rushing presence off the edge. The team has received more than ample play up the middle on their defensive line with the trio of Aaron Donald, Ndamukong Suh, and Michael Brockers. The Rams are currently sitting at eighth in the league with 22 total sacks through Week 8.

He is coming off his most productive campaign where he registered a career-high 8.0 sacks, two forced fumbles and fumble recoveries along with 21 total tackles. Fowler hasn't had the start to the season that he wanted with 2.0 sacks and a forced fumble, but a change of scenery could be what is needed to produce at a high level. This may be a perfect opportunity for him to produce playing alongside their formidable trio at defensive tackle that could help him get to the quarterback at a much higher clip.

Fowler could immediately be put in a big spot in his first game with the Rams with a matchup against the New Orleans Saints where the defense will have the task of limiting star quarterback Drew Brees. This is also a chance for him to showcase that he could be a major piece to the puzzle while possibly securing a long-term future in Los Angeles.
