The Los Angeles Rams went through an injury scare in Week 1. Newly signed Eric Weddle left he game against the Carolina Panthers with a head laceration and a concussion. The good news is that head coach Sean McVay is optimistic about Weddle's health going into Week 2, according to Vincent Bonsignore of The Athletic.
This news comes as a relief to all Rams fans, as Los Angeles heads into a brutal matchup with the New Orleans Saints. The game is something of a grudge match for the Saints, and everyone knows why. The notorious no-call that ended up with the Saints losing in the NFC championship is still on everybody's mind. New Orleans is playing to prove that they're the NFC's best, and Sunday is the time to do it.
Weddle will be crucial in the Rams' efforts to stop the potent Saints offense. New Orleans running back Alvin Kamara has shredded the Rams the last two times these teams have met. Weddle is likely to try and cover him, as well as Saints tight end Jared Cook. Both of these assignments are extremely difficult, but the former Baltimore Ravens safety is the best option the Rams have.
Although both teams have good defenses, this matchup could turn into a shootout. Saints quarterback Drew Brees is always dangerous, especially when equipped with the arsenal of weapons he has at his disposal. All Los Angeles fans are hoping that Weddle's return does something to slow down the surgical New Orleans offense.
