The Los Angeles Rams have inched closer to clinching a playoff berth after edging past the Kansas City Chiefs in a thrilling 54-51 win on Monday night.

It has put them on the verge of clinching the NFC West division title for the second straight year. With that in mind, Rams head coach Sean McVay has chimed in on the situation stating that he hopes that the Carolina Panthers can top the Seattle Seahawks in Week 12 action during their bye so that they can earn the division title once again, according to Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.

The Rams have put themselves in the unique position of being able to be the first team to earn a playoff berth due to their tremendous amount of success this season. This has included getting past the Seahawks in their two meetings, which has only further tightened their grip hold ono the top spot in the NFC West for the second straight year. Meanwhile, Seahawks has continued to have difficulty finding a steady flow of consistency this year after growing some tough stretches that had seen them drop two straight games prior to edging the Green Bay Packers last Thursday night 27-24.

Seattle is now backed into the corner of having to win out for the rest of the season to even have a chance to secure the NFC West division title. The Panthers are coming off back-to-back disappointing losses to the Pittsburgh Steelers and Detroit Lions. This could set the stage for an intense contest with both teams having their playoff chances highly impacted by the contest.

Meanwhile, Los Angeles gets a much-needed bye week in order to rest up for the first stretch of the season that still features games against the Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, and Philadelphia Eagles along with a pair of NFC West divisional games against the Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers to finish the rest of the year.
