Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay reached out to former Texas Tech head coach about a possible assistant role.

Kingsbury was moderately successful in his time with Texas Tech and even coached Kansas City Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Unfortunately, Kingsbury was let go last week and relieved of his head coaching duties. Although his record as a head coach doesn't exactly stand out, it's all that he has done with the quarterback position over the years that does.

Kingsbury was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Texas A&M when Johnny Manziel was the quarterback and ultimately Manziel won the Heisman trophy in 2012 under Kingsbury's assistance.

McVay is good friends with Kingsbury and clarified that the rumors are true, Kingsbury has been contacted and offered a role with the Rams. Although the Rams have been running like a well-oiled machine this season, it would seem unnecessary to get other coaching perspectives involved. There's an off chance it interferes with their success. Kingsbury will not necessarily be changing anything in a drastic manner if he were, in fact, joining the organization, but it's obvious Kingsbury has a keen eye on the offensive side of the ball.

The Rams could easily stay right where they are at in terms of coaching. Everything has worked for them and there is no need for change considering as of right now they have all of the pieces needed for a championship run. Kingsbury will likely find a job in the near future whether it's at the college or professional level remains to be seen.
