The Los Angeles Rams bowed out in the first round of the 2024 NFL Playoffs as Matthew Stafford was bested on the road vs. his former team the Detroit Lions.

The Rams' solid but unspectacular season was haunted by the loss of Stetson Bennett, a promising young quarterback and former two-time college football national champion who could have added to the depth of the team's QB room in a profound way.

Recently, Bennett spoke up about what happened last season and how he's feeling now in a return to team OTAs. The news came during a time when the Rams' scariest pitfall on their 2024-2025 schedule was shared. A brutal injury hit was sustained to a rising star on the Rams' offense.

Now, Bennett is back practicing, and he brought an explanation with him.

The former Georgia Bulldogs walk-on and superstar quarterback laid out as much detail as he felt comfortable sharing recently. According to Bennett, he ‘feels good' now and said he was previously dealing with a situation that ‘fell under the mental health umbrella. The news was shared by reporter Jourdan Rodrigue on X.

Rams' QB room should ascend with Bennett back

Bennett adds considerably to the Rams' braintrust with the former Super Bowl winner Stafford and noted QB whisperer and head Sean McVay in the fold. Bennett is considered to be a self made player who climbed his way up from the bottom of the Bulldogs' depth chart in college to become one of the most successful players in Georgia football history.

Stafford still has the arm talent and skills to dominate in the NFC and now he has Bennett to join him in film study sessions while pushing him on the field as a competitor to help sharpen his skills.

The Rams will go as far as Stafford's right arm will take them this season. Bennett's presence and cerebral approach to the game, no doubt honed during his months-long, recent break, will help to keep his mind fresh while the Rams work to shore up their weaknesses this offseason.
