The Los Angeles Rams are coming off their most spectacular win of the 2018 NFL season. It appears they may have also dodged a bullet with the health of running back Todd Gurley.

Despite the high-scoring affair between the Rams and the Kansas City Chiefs, Gurley put up modest production for the first time all season due to an ankle injury. According to team insider Myles Simmons, head coach Sean McVay does not expect him to miss any time:

HC Sean McVay says on conference call that RB Todd Gurley did have his ankle rolled up on early in the game last night, and it did limit him a bit.

McVay adds Gurley will be fine going forward, however.

The shootout between the Rams and Chiefs fit the billing as the highest-scoring game in NFL history. Which is why it came as a bit of a surprise to see that Gurley did not cash in on all the points being scored. He rushed a season-low 12 times for 55 yards while hauling in three receptions for 39 yards.

Rams fans can breathe a sigh of relief knowing their workhorse back managed to escape a severe injury. Gurley has been the engine behind one of the most high-powered offenses in the NFL. Although the Rams were able to alleviate his absence with a stellar outing from quarterback Jared Goff, there is no question that the reigning Offensive Player of the Year remains a focal point of McVay's approach. Fortunately, Gurley will have the bye week to give him some extra time to get back to 100 percent.
