The Los Angeles Rams are supposedly working toward a new deal with dynamic wide receiver Sammy Watkins. Watkins is currently a free agent.

This tidbit comes by way of CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora, who reports the Rams are “working actively” to re-sign Watkins.

Watkins was drafted by the Buffalo Bills at pick number four overall in the 2014 NFL Draft. He had a solid rookie season before a breakout sophomore campaign in which he caught 60 balls for 1,047 yards and nine touchdowns.

Last season, following his move from Buffalo, Watkins acquired 39 catches for 593 yards and eight touchdowns in Los Angeles.

With the Rams investing in defense so far this offseason, but with a bevy of great options on the offensive side of the football, Los Angles appears to be trending toward a deep run in the playoffs. Watkins can be a big part of all of that if he returns to the fold.

Then again, it is expected that several teams will hurl large sums of money toward the dynamic wide receiver's general direction. Whether or not the Rams can or would match those offers are not yet known. With the NFL Draft quickly approaching, it is likely Watkins makes a decision sooner rather than later.
