After a disappointing season that saw the Toronto Raptors miss the playoffs, all the focus now shifts on Kyle Lowry and what he will do in free agency.

He wasn't supposed to stay with the team, at least if previous rumors were to be believed. The Raptors were expected to trade the veteran guard, as the likes of the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers appeared as frontrunners to make a move for him at the March trade deadline. Unfortunately, nothing materialized and he stayed in Toronto (err Tampa Bay) as the team tried to climb up the standings for a chance at the play-in.

With that said, fans and experts alike expect Lowry to leave the Raptors in free agency. After all, there's no doubt he'll have a number of suitors–including powerhouse teams who are just a piece away from title contention.

If you ask the 35-year-old vet, though, nothing is final yet and he is not closing his door to a potential return. However, that means he is also very much open to exploring his options.

“Everyone’s gonna have their own opinion,” Lowry shared, per Eric Koreen of The Athletic. “And it’s a good story for people to write and to have fun with. But we’ll see what happens. No one knows what the future holds. No one knows what comes with the next day. We all just have to live it every day and every moment. And that’s important, to just take it day by day and minute by minute, hour by hour, and live our lives like that. But it’s a cool story to write for people. I just hope they make me look really cool.”

For what it's worth, Kyle Lowry also opened up about the three major factors in his free agency decision, emphasizing that his family comes first. The Raptors star highlighted that he wants  to be able to take care of his family and provide them with stability, which leads to the second and third factors which are money and years.

Simply put, the ball is in the Raptors' hands if they want to keep Lowry and try to compete once again. That or they can let him walk away to get that final big contract and rebuild with their remaining core.
