‘Tis the season of giving all across the NBA. Washington Wizards superstar John Wall recently got into the holiday spirit by presenting some lavish Christmas gifts to his teammates.
Needless to say, Wall has set the bar high for other star players across the league looking to play Santa Claus for their team during the holidays. However, Toronto Raptors star DeMar DeRozan is not one of them. Still, that did not stop teammate Serge Ibaka from pleading his case for a Rolex watch with DeRozan per Josh Lewenberg of TSN Sports:
Ibaka: “Deebo, you get me a gift or no?”
DeRozan: “Im not getting nobody nothing”
SI: “You’ve got to get everybody a gift”
DD: “I’ll give you a Subway gift card”
SI: “No no. I dont want to play with you anymore, man”
DD: “OK, thats your problem”
SI: “Im going to go play with John Wall”
The banter between DeRozan and Ibaka is indicative of the success this team has enjoyed thus far in the 2017-18 NBA season. Furthermore, it seems Ibaka is settling in nicely with his new team after joining prior to the 2016-17 NBA season.
Although the expectation of Rolex watches may be a bit of a reach for any superstar, Ibaka and the Raptors have made a strong case to be deserving of such lucrative presents. Toronto currently owns the fourth-best record in the NBA at 23-8 amidst their six-game winning streak.
