Apparently, winning a championship may not be enough to convince Kawhi Leonard to stay with the Toronto Raptors.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Los Angeles Clippers are at the top of Leonard's list in free agency this summer and the Rpators have “work to do” to try and get him to stay:

“He came to Toronto, with the idea from San Antonio, this was a very fine one year way station and I'm sure exceeded his expectations how they managed him physically to be a Finals MVP again, to win a championship,” Wojnarowski said on SportsCenter on Friday. “But there was always the risk of him going back west. The L.A. Clippers are at the very top of that list, and I think the Raptors still have work to do between now and June 30 and the start of free agency to keep Kawhi Leonard in Toronto.”

While many felt that a title would ultimately lead to Leonard re-upping with the Raptors, at least in the short term, this news does not come as much of a surprise, as the general assumption all along was that Leonard was a one-year rental for Toronto and would simply bolt for Los Angeles during the summer of 2019.

Plus, the Clippers can create enough cap space to sign two max free agents so long as they dump Danilo Gallinari's contract, so it's entirely possible that the Clips can sign Leonard as well as another big-name star this offseason.

Leonard spent the first seven years of his career with the Spurs before demanding a trade last year. He was then dealt to the Raptors last summer.
