The Baltimore Ravens have claimed cornerback Cyrus Jones off waivers after he was released by the New England Patriots on Sunday, per Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic.

Zrebiec also notes that the Ravens have cut wide receiver/kick returner Tim White to make room for Jones on the roster.

Jones, 24, played in two of the Patriots’ five games this season. He made one tackle and returned five punts for 45 yards.

Jones was a second-round pick of New England in 2016. He played 10 games as a rookie and spent last season on injured reserve with a knee injury.

Jones had previously spent time in the Baltimore practice squad after the Patriots waived him this past preseason. But New England signed him back to their 53-player roster on Sept. 19.

The Ravens are already incredibly stacked at cornerback, especially with Jimmy Smith’s return from suspension. Apart from Smith, they also have Brandon Carr, Marlon Humphrey and Tavon Young on their cornerback depth chart.

But after releasing White, the Ravens' apparent plan for Jones is for him to take over as their full-time kick returner. White was the Ravens' returner for the past three games after he replaced rookie receiver Janarion Grant in Week 3.
