If you are planning on starting Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson this week, wait a second or two. Fantasy football managers might benefit from starting a safer pick this week. Jackson missed practice again on Thursday, after not participating on Wednesday. This is according to The Athletic Ravens beat reporter Jeff Zrebiec, who tweeted the news Thursday afternoon.

NFL reporter Mike Garafolo quoted Zrebiec's tweet, pointing out that Baltimore was hopeful that their quarterback would be up to participating. Jackson's recovery was once sailing in the right direction, but it appears that ship has turned around.

This is due to the ankle sprain he suffered in the Ravens' Week 14 loss to the Browns. Jackson isn't the only mobile quarterback who has been dealt an ankle sprain this season. Eagles' Jalen Hurts suffered one in Week 12 against the Jets. If Jackson's sprain is similar to Hurts', he will most likely miss at least one game.

That being said, it will be a late decision for fantasy football managers to start Jackson or not. There will hopefully be more information on his game day status in the Ravens' Friday injury report.

However, if you are deciding on whether or not to start Jackson or one of Thursday night's quarterbacks, I would choose the latter. Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert are both healthy and high-performance quarterbacks. On the other hand, Jackson, even if he does play, will most likely be limited in his typically impactful run game.
