The Baltimore Ravens have nothing but respect for Ryan Fitzpatrick ahead of their Week 1 game on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins. On Monday, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh reacted to the Dolphins naming Fitzpatrick as their starting quarterback.

Throughout training camp and the preseason, Miami has had a competition between Fitzpatrick and second-year quarterback Josh Rosen. Following their preseason finale against the New Orleans Saints, the Dolphins announced that the veteran Fitzpatrick would get the nod against the Ravens to kickstart the regular season.

For the Ravens and Harbaugh, though, they understand the type of quarterback that Fitzpatrick is. Over his 14 seasons in the NFL, Fitzpatrick has grown into a fearless quarterback who isn't afraid to try to make risky throws.

But as Harbaugh alluded to, sometimes those throws can cost his team games. Last season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the journeyman QB threw 12 interceptions in just seven starts under center. Furthermore, Fitzpatrick has thrown 47 interceptions and coughed up 18 fumbles since the 2015 season.

In 2018, the Ravens were in the bottom half of the NFL in interceptions with just 12 of them. This offseason, they lost Eric Weddle, C.J. Mosley, Terrell Suggs, and Za'Darius Smith but they're still loaded with playmakers in the secondary.

Most notably, Baltimore added veteran safety Earl Thomas to an already-talented defensive-backs group with Marlon Humphrey, Jimmy Smith, Brandon Carr, and Tony Jefferson. In typical Baltimore fashion, it seems as if they have plenty of players who can step in for those lost in free agency.

With the Dolphins trading tackle Laremy Tunsil and wideout Kenny Stills this past weekend, it may be harder for Fitzpatrick to lead Miami to an upset in Week 1 against Baltimore.
